As both a visual artist and a photographer who enjoys the post-production editing of photography, I adore this artistic technique of Intentional Camera Movement (ICM). I love the abstracted results of moving the camera as I depress the shutter. Then enhancing the shadows and highlights in post-production allows me to creatively push the boundaries of what started off as something as simple as a geranium in a planter. Sometimes I will leave the colours as-is, other times I will apply filters for the effect I want. There are various techniques to be used in this art form – including panning as you shoot or zooming in or out as you shoot. The image can be used as shot in-camera or layered with multiple images. I just love the freedom to explore and experiment with this unique form of photography.
